SUUTELE MINULLE SIIVET, EN MINÄ LENNÄ POIS, MINÄ VAIN...

Suutele minulle siivet, en minä lennä pois,
minä vain levitän ne
suojaksi sinun yllesi,
veitseksi kuoleman kurkulle.
Jos lähdenkin, en minä
kauan viivy, pian minä luoksesi
palaan, sirpin sinä minulta saat
jolla niittää,
vasaran jolla rakentaa, ja ruukkuusi
siemeniä ja multaa.
Ja jos en palaisikaan, kanssani olisit
maailman halki, siipieni alla kuin kevättuuli.

- Tommy Tabermann -
Tähtiä kämmenellä (Gummerus 2010)

  1. I traslanted this poem into spanish, but the only paragrph I can not traslate because I don get the idea into the poem was: "veitseksi kuoleman kurkulle." what does it means?

    1. Luis, Spanish is'n myt language, but I can try this in English a few words:

"Kiss wings to me/ I don't fly away, / I only make them open/ for care over you,/ for the knife against the death./ If I though leave/ I will not stay a long..."

Tommy Tabermann is the very popular Finish poet. He has passet away for some years ago but his poems are living.

(I've already from teen aged liked Neruda's poems...also.)

And the end of the poem:

"If I shouldn't come back, you were always with me/ through the world/ under my wings like the wind of the Spring."

"veitseksi kuoleman kurkulle" is here meaning "the knife against the death."
